How to Travel from Nagpur to Goa

One of the popular holiday destinations of India, Goa, is included in the itinerary of most international tourists. The land of beautiful sea beaches, aromatic seafood, raves parties, and stunning sunset views - this makes Goa a fabulous holiday spot.  

If you are at Nagpur, then you can always take some time to visit Goa. Although there are no direct flights, buses, or trains to cover the Nagpur to Goa journey, you can always go for a road trip.


Nagpur to Goa via Airways

As mentioned earlier, there are only a handful direct Nagpur to Goa flights available. Currently, only GoAir offers direct flights between cities once a day. The flight departs at 22:25 each night, and commences the trip in one hour and forty minutes.  

Several Indian operators provide connecting flights between these two cities. Few of the Indian operators providing flight services in these cities are

• Indigo

Arrival airport: Goa International Airport (GOI)

The tickets cost around INR 3,500 – but the cost of the ticket is subjected to change.


Nagpur to Goa via Road

1. Nagpur – Gulbarga – Vijaypura – Belgaum – Adcolna – Goa   

Distance covered: 1,136 km (705.87 miles)

Time required: 22 h 17 min

This route runs through NH 44 and crosses over some of the most interesting landmarks of central India. If you have some time to spare, then you can always make a detour towards the Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, and some other popular places are Gulbarga Fort, Safa Masjid, Saat Gumbaz, and Navila Tirtha.


2. Nagpur – Latur – Solanpur – Vijaypura – Belgaum – Goa

Distance covered: 1,044 km (648.71 miles)

Time required: 22 h 33 min

This route has multiple tool gates, so be prepared. Transgressing over the NH 44, this route is comparatively shorter in distance.  

Unfortunately, there are no direct buses to Goa from Nagpur. To travel by bus, you have to come down to Kolhapur and then take a bus to Goa. Usually, these trips take around 17 to 18 hours and the tickets cost around INR 1,000 (ticket prices are subjected to change).


Nagpur to Goa via Trains

Just like buses, there are no direct trains between Goa and Nagpur. However, for train journeys, travelers have to come down to Mumbai and then take another train to Goa.  

To book the tickets, you can visit the Indian Railway’s ticket portal. Usually, international tourists can book their tickets 365 days in advance. However, with tatkal booking services, you can book your train tickets a day before the journey. For tatkal tickets, you have to pay an additional fee.

Ideally, Goa is at its best during the month of November to February. Comfortable temperature & low humidity, and festive preparations make this winter season the most charming time to visit.
