Carol took us to many hidden shopping stores and the best restaurants where only locals know and saved us a lot of money...if you are in Xiam, please do yourself a favor a seek out Carol since her knowledge of the region and her English was OUTSTANDING.

She speaks English so well you may think she had spent years outside China or is married to an English expatriate. But no, she isnt. We immediately felt connected with her the first time we met her at the airport. She carries a chirpy demenanor and through out the 3 days of her company she had displayed high level of energy, enthusiam and unparallelled professionalism in her job. Not only is she abled to offer the gist of Chinese history related to the relics and site in concise and interesting bite size manner, her mastery of the Chinese history if you want to know more is easily met. She confidently led us through the shoulder to shoulder crowd at times with ease and assure us from time to time when the 65000 visitors a year terracotta site crowd will wax and wane and there was no need to panic elbow for the most favorable camera spot or view, which we dutifully followed and did manage to see the terracottas comfortably minus the anxieties. The next day after exploring the Dayan Tower and before leaving us to explore the bustling 'Tang Sleepless City' street, which visitors to Xi'an should not miss, in the evening she literally walked the 700 meters stretched of the street with us in the day ensuring that we are familiar with it and point us to what some local foods to pick up along the way. Though it was the third and last day of our stay in Xi'an, Celine spare no effort to explain fervently the historical background behind the City wall we visited and how Islam and a Muslim local population were established in Xi'an. A tour guide makes visiting a place the first time less intimidating. But a truly professional tour guide will leave you with an indelible mark of happy experience and memory. Vincent QApr 13, 2024Informative and fun! Early booking >8 days required for Forbidden City ticketsFor our two day tour in Beijing we had comfortable vehicles and a pleasant guide with Tom. It was well paced and very informative. Do note April-May is pollen season in Beijing so don’t be shy about wearing those masks. We booked the no-shopping tour to take our mind off being strong armed into mandatory shopping stops and for fuss-free booking through all attractions, except for the cable car ride at Mutianyu Great Wall (round-trip) which is an extra 140 ¥ per person, but even that, Tom took care of the ticket booking. We will be back with Travel China Guide!

From there we were fast-tracked through the ticket lines and security at Tianamen Square. (It would have taken more than twice the time if we weren't in a group. Cindy was very knowledgeable with all the questions we had, and was patient with all of our photo opportunities. After Tianamen Square our driver let us and we headed to the Great Wall. We were all feeling a little hungry and asked to stop for lunch. Cindy had a great recommendation for a local restaurant on the way out of the city. The food was absolutely amazing. It was plentiful and our table of 6 shared large plates that amounted to an amazing bargain of about $40 U.S. What a bargain! When we arrived at the Great Wall all of our group members decided we want to take the Chair Life up and the Tobaggon slide downm Cindy helped arrange our tickets and accompanied us to the top of the Great Wall. We were there for about 2 hours which was more than enough! I thought when I booked that it may be too short, but even for us in our 40s in good health the wall is a workout with the up and down uneven steps. It was breathtaking and beautiful. On our drive back to Beijing we stopped for a photo op at the Birds Nest National Coluseum, the chosen for our driver to drop us at a shopping area rather than return to the hotel. It was the perfect day and we are so glad we didn't attempt to do all this on our own. Thanks Cindy for being our wonderful tour guide. I strongly recommend to go through the Travel China Guide Tours internet site to book your train e-ticket. It is the easiest and fastest way to do it. If you have any problems you can contact them, they speak English, they are understanding. With them you can easily change or cancel your bookings. Thanks to them my trip was easy to organise day to day.

Tour was well organized with a variety of experiences and attractions. One highlight was the home-cooked lunch in a Chinese family's apartment. Very nice lady and a fabulous cook! Other experiences, choice of hotels and restaurants were all first rate. A couple that I wasn't too excited about in advance turned out to be fun and informative beating my expectations. My tour was a great way to learn about China's past and present! Very pleased with my trip!

We were very comfortable with our dining and accommodation. The tour buses were comfortable and the drivers unintrusive. There were some surprises including the chair lift to the Great Wall and the Kung Fu Show. A nice "surprise" in Xián was the Tang dynasty music and dance show after a dumpling meal! Tai Chi and other activities in the City Wall Park were wonderful. I'll have to go back as I didn't quite master the use of chopsticks but we foreigners were usually provided with forks. When it came time to say Goodbye we were taken to a convenient spot for transport to the train station. Thank you Travel China Guide Tours for everything.

Our itinerary was carefully planned, and went fully according to plan. Our tour coordinator, Vera Yu, assisted us with the itinerary, paperwork and documentation for arrival in Beijing, and even arranged to meet us in Xi'an.
The tour was magnificent,although strenuous for me as a senior,and covered many of the sites and cities we had heard of over the years. Hotels were beyond our expectations, and cheap, from what we experienced in North America. Hotel meals were generally excellent but we preferred to eat in local cafes; this was much cheaper and not at all difficult as most cafes had pictures of their menus posted outside, and staff were always helpful. In fact we were sometimes overwhelmed with how friendly and helpful Chinese people are.
On the Yangste cruise, where we were the only Westerners, several crew members spoke some English, and the public announcements were often repeated in English or the benefit of non-Mandarin speakers.This cruise was spectacular giving much insight into daily life in China, and culminating in the magnificent 3-Gorges Dam.
In Shanghai we went on our own with a bus tour of the city, a river cruise, and walking.I must add that I felt safer walking a night in Shanghai than I have felt in many North American cities. The Shanghai Bund (river walk), night lights on the Huangou river, and the Shanghai tower should be on everyone's bucket list.

I booked the trip online and our consultant Wendy was very helpful. All of our guides were very knowledgeable and spoke English well. The cost was reasonable and we did not encounter any unexpected fees.

DenisJan 03, 2019Travel China Guide, great experienceWe used the services of TCG twice. One time in 2004 to vist China. And again in 2018 to visit Vietnam. It is a very relliable company. The guides, drivers, hotels, airplanes and visits were excellent. You can choose their package or build your own, which we did. Great service. Especially with Wendy Lee. I will do business again with TCG in the future. Maybe to visit Myanmar.
