Jaswant Thada, Jodhpur

As one of the famous landmarks in Jodhpur, Jaswant Thada, also known as the “Taj Mahal of Mewar”, is a milky-white marble memorial built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899. He built it to memorize his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, the 33rd ruler of Jodhpur.

The memorial building style is very much like a temple, inside which are the genealogy and portraits of the Maharajas of Jodhpur of the past dynasties that symbolize the glory of rulers in Jodhpur. Apart from the beautiful sculptures, frescos, domes and pillars, you will also appreciate the exquisitely carved gazebo, beautiful gardens and lakes surrounded. Whenever there are sunrays falling onto it, the white-marble structured hall will exude a warm and gentle glow, which makes this architecture even more mysterious. Built under the foot of the Mehrangarh Fort-Jodhpur, the white-marble monument is surrounded by the lush forests and lays alongside a clear and beautiful lake.
