National Museum of India, located on Janpath, Rajpath Road in the capital, Delhi, was built in 1949 under the initiative of Indian Prime Minister Nehru. Layout of National Museum of India
National Museum of India is a three-storey building with white colonnades, situated on the edge of Janpath Street. On either side of the wall surrounded by iron railings are the cloisters of ancient stone carvings, leading visitors into the booths representing the different times of ancient India. On the second and third floors of the museum, it displays the famous fine paintings of ancient India, ancient national and religious costumes, daily necessities, national musical instruments, and so on. The museum's collection sits into ten categories: prehistoric archaeology, sculpture and ancient coins, transcripts, inscriptions, fine paintings, weapons, decorative arts, anthropology, pre-Columbian art, Western art and Central Asian art.
