Kathmandu weather is nice most of the year with an average temperature of 20℃(68℉). June to August are the hottest months of the year but the average high temperature stays at around 30℃(86℉). In winter noon, the temperatures can be 20℃; but the night can be chilly cold and there may not be heating facilities in some hotels. The best time, also the tourist peak season, to visit Kathmandu is September to mid-December in autumn and March to May in spring because of moderate temperature, clear sky and less rainfall. You’d better avoid going to Kathmandu in summer, especially the rainy monsoon season in June and July because there are high chances of natural disasters like flood and landslide, which could cause safety issue and transportation inconvenience.

Spring (March - May)
It is one of the best seasons to visit Kathmandu with sunny days, fresh air and beautiful scenery. People can not only appreciate the cultural relics like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath comfortably but also enjoy the diverse outdoor activities like rafting and trekking. During this time, beautiful rhododendrons also start to blossom. You can wear breathable clothes like t-shirts and long dress during the daytime and prepare some warm clothes like woolen coat and seawaters for the evening.

Summer (June - August)

Due to the monsoon influence, the weather is hot and humid and the temperature varies from 17-30℃(62.6-86℉) with the large rainfall during this time. People need to bring lightweight clothing like shirts, shorts. Sporadic showers might occur, so you should prepare raingears and waterproof shoes.

Autumn (September - November)
It is one of the peak travel seasons to visit Kathmandu because of high visibility and high chances of sunny days. Also, it is very suitable for trekking. You can choose many routes near Kathmandu according to your body condition, such as Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek. It is advisable to book your plane tickets and accommodation early.

Winter (December - February)
If you travel to Kathmandu during this time, you need to bring some jackets, sweaters and warmer clothing for the nights which can be very cold. People travel to Kathmandu in winter could take advantage of low prices of accommodation and transportation.
