August Travel Guide – Where to Go & Tips

Tourism Rate:

Upper Mustang Trek:

Mustang is isolated from modern society and has become a precious place preserving the ancient Tibetan culture. It can be divided into two parts and the northern part of Mustang district is known as Upper Mustang. It is suitable for trekking in August because the region is under the Himalayan shadow without the monsoon influence. A trekking here may take 11 to 18 days. Along the way, people can appreciate the majestic natural and cultural scenery. Usually, people can take a flight to Pokhara, and then choose airways to Jomsom, the entrance of Mustang.

Kathmandu:

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, has the grand cultural heritages. For example, the Boudhanath Stupa. It is a millennium stupa among the seven world cultural heritage sites of Nepal. The huge temple base, majestic tower top, five-color prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and the Buddha eyes filled with compassion have become a symbol of Nepal.

Pashupatinath Temple is worth visiting, too. Founded in the 5th century AD, it is one of the world’s cultural heritages and Hindu holy places dedicated to the god of Shiva. It is also called the “burning corpse temple”, because there are six stone-built cremation pedestals on the banks of the Bagmati River nearby.

Swayambhunath is a notable Buddhist temple, while you can find many monkeys roaming around, so it is also called Monkey Temple.

People can also visit many Hindu and Buddhist temples in Durbar Square. Then, you can go to Thamel district where you can buy all kinds of traditional Nepalese clothing, carvings, handicrafts and jewelry.
