Trip Planning FAQs

What is the South India famous for?
The South India is famous for the beautiful natural scenery, old temples and ruins as well as the various food that quite differs from the North. The pyramid-shaped Dravidian architecture with intricate stone statues is exclusive in the South India, while the foods here focus on rice and seafoods. Taking a houseboat cruise in Alappuzha, the Venice of the East, is also a lifetime experience that you can’t miss in your South India tour.
What are the best places to visit in south India?
South India tours and travels cover a wide range of recreations. Here we list the must-go cities which are popular in our South India tour packages:

Bangalore - a capital famous for its rich monuments. The Tippu Sultan’s Fort exhibits a combination of Hinduism and Islamic culture, the 19th-century Bangalore Palace shows you the architectural marvel and the Nandi Hills call for the nature lovers.

Chennai - the capital of Tamil Nadu. You can enjoy a relaxing holiday with beach activities at the Marina beach, the second biggest beach in the world, or watch migration birds at the Huddleston Garden of Theisophical Society and the Pulicat Lake.

Kochi - a vibrant port city. The historic Fort Kochi, Dutch Palace, Hill palace, Bolgatty Palace give you a cultural tour, while the Marine drive, Kochi beach, and Willingdon Islands are good places for relaxation.

Madurai - one of the oldest city of India. Its rich history endowed the tourists with lots of ancient temples like Sree Meenakshi Amman Temple, Koodal Azhagar Temple and Thirupparankundram temple.

Mysore - the city of palaces. Besides the Mysore palace, the most popular attraction of South India, you will also see various palaces like Brindavan garden and St. Philomena Church.

Pondicherry - a small union territory full of French style. The French-style structures like Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville greet you in an entirely different atmosphere.

Alappuzha (Alleppey) - Venice of the East. A leisurely cruise by floating houseboat on the backwaters, or a nap in hammocks near the Kerala Water, will take your mind away from the bustling of busy cities.

Munnar - a romantic hill station and a tea plantation. Soaking in the aroma of tea, you can dive deep into the unspoiled forests and enjoy the serene green.

Goa - famous for abundant beaches. With lots of wonderful churches and forts, Goa is also the best place for the outdoor enthusiasts, as its rich terrains allow many choices of adventures like biking expeditions.
When is the best time to visit south India?
Most of the South India tours and travels are arranged in the winter with a better climate. Although the South India is in tropical monsoon climate, the weather differs among different areas. If you want to enjoy the cruise in Kerala, it is advisable to plan your South India tour package itinerary from December to February, when the climate is less humid and ranges from 22 to 30℃ (72 to 86 ℉). If your South India tour leads you to the beaches, December to February will be the best time.

This was the second time I went to India. We visited some places on this South India tour. Arriving at Bangalore, the guide led us to check in the hotel and recommended some famous places for our free exploration. Later, we paid a visit to Lal Bagh, a botanical garden with over 1,800 species of plants. We visited Mysore Palace and immensely enjoyed the beautiful interior decoration. The Goa beach tour was also impressive where we joined some sports and tasted delicious seafood… Thanks for our guide’s enthusiastic service, we had a good vacation. Also thank the Agate, a trustworthy travel agency!...More

Sincerely appreciated our guides for their thoughtful service and attractive introductions.
We enjoyed exceptional sea views and felt the special South Indian culture from Chennai to Kochi. The coconut milk was really sweet and delicious!
In general, the sights of north and south India were well worth visiting. We were extremely satisfied!

An experienced guide is very key to a perfect trip who can save lots of time and share many useful tips. We were so lucky to meet our professional and amiable guides who ensured us a smooth and safe South India tour. But there was a drawback on Day 4. The hotel couldn’t reach the international 4-star level and the beds were small and some facilities were old though it was relatively clean, providing a very good service attitude and delicious breakfast. Overall, this trip was fairly happy!

The food and hotels arrangements on our South India tour were satisfactory. The tour guide could adjust the schedule in time according to the specific situation. All the famous scenic spots were visited, and the journey was interesting enough.

The hotels were local 4-star, clean and comfortable, where the buffet breakfast was quite rich and delicious. In particular, I would like to appreciate the guide in Alappuzha, who was very responsible and gave patient and careful guidance at every aspect, making the trip safe and smooth and everyone in a good mood. Special praise was given to all the drivers who had years of driving experience. All in all, each one we met added to the fun of the 12-day South India trip....More

We had a great time on our South India trip. Reasonable and easy schedule made us experience a unique tropical amorous feeling. The houseboat trip in Kerala’s backwaters and a cruise on Periyar Lake were two unforgettable leisurely activities. The Meenakshi Temple looked so beautiful with countless colorful statues. The meals arranged in hotels were hearty but the western food was not authentic. Some Indian snacks were very delicious, such as butter chicken and Kottu Parotta - chopping flattened bread mixed with chicken pieces. The local guides were enthusiastic, responsive and dedicated....More

I’d ever traveled to the Golden Triangle of India and the sights were all classic and memorable! But the natural scenery of South India attracted me more. This 11-day South India tour package to Kerala was a unique experience totally different from that of North India! I enjoyed the peaceful beaches, Bird Sanctuary and the relaxing cruise on the lake...

Our tour guides and drivers had a strong sense of responsibility, rich working experience and cared for every member of our group. Under their guidance, we finished the whole journey smoothly!...More

As our tour included many unique attractions in South India, there were a few spots where we only had a short viewing time. But the guides tried their best to make us spend more time on the important sites such as the Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, Mysore Palace and so on. India was really a country that exceeded my expectations. Only visitors to experience it can be qualified to judge. All in all, I had a very good impression of this south India tour package!
