Structural Details
Roopmati Pavilion in Mandu was first built as an army observation post but later it was known as the symbol of love. The famous story of Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati became the symbol of love and history from the past. This pavilion lies towards the south and has a low and large hall with two rooms on each side in the beginning. However, later on, the building was extended towards the western side of the plinth and the square pavilion housing the hemispherical dome was added.There are many small details on the structure of this pavilion and it also has several arched openings towards the width. The structure has a large reservoir where rainwater was collected during the monsoon season. This pavilion has an incredible sight of the Narmada flowing 305 meters below the pavilion.
History
The back story to Roopmati Pavilion in Mandu is quite interesting as it holds the core reason why this pavilion was built in the first place. Baz Bahadur was coming back from a hunting trip and he was attracted to the mesmerizing tunes of Roopmati songs. She was a simple girl with an incredible charm; Baz Bahadur fell in love with her and she came to Mandu under one condition that she will stay in such a place where she can see the Narmada River.This condition was the core reason why the prince got the pavilion constructed. However, their love was short-lived because the town was conquered by Adham Khan who was the Mughal general sent by Akbar. Akbar has his eye on Roopmati because of her beauty but she gave her life by consuming poison because she couldn’t bear the mental trauma.

Mandu can be easily reached from any location and it’s well-connected from all the transportation platforms. Many other transport routes will are easily accessible from any location.• Indore is near the Mandu and it’s well-connected by train, air and other roadways.
• You will be able to find regular buses from Mandu via Dhar and Ratlam. The route from Bhopal to Mandu can also be perfect.
• If you are planning for private transport, then you can take the Aurangabad-Indore highway, getting up the plateau is very risky because so do ask some of the local natives as to which way would be perfect.
