Hoi An Weather in June
Hoi An in June enters its hottest period of the year, with strong UV rays, making outdoor sightseeing quite challenging. Yet being sunny most of the time, it sees low rainfall with no extreme weather that will ruin your travel plans entirely. With careful planning and proper sun and heat protection, you can still enjoy a not bad trip.Scorching Heat
Overall, Hoi An’s weather in June is far from comfortable. Temperatures consistently top 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the month, and with humidity above 80%, the stifling heat intensifies significantly, making the apparent temperature much higher than the actual reading.Specifically, daytime high temperatures often reach 34 - 38℃ (93 - 100℉). At noon, the ancient town simmers under the blazing sun with almost no breeze, feeling like a stuffy, enclosed sauna room. In just ten minutes being outdoor, you’ll be desperate to find an air-conditioned spot to cool down, with no desire left to wander.
Nighttime low temperatures hover between 26 and 28℃ (79 - 82℉). While this may seem cooler than the daytime, moisture clings persistently to your body like a warm, damp layer of clothing, offering little relief actually. However, this is still the most comfortable time of day - bring a small fan when you go out to ease the sticky discomfort.

Mild Rainfall
June marks the tail end of the dry season in Hoi An, with rainfall on a gradual rise. It sees an average monthly precipitation of around 99 mm and roughly 20 rainy days. While these numbers seem not too low, they remain relatively mild compared with the rainy season. There’s no need for excessive concern, as rainfall here mostly is brief showers that won’t disrupt your plans long. Often, a short break at a roadside shop is all it takes before you can resume sightseeing. Moreover, these brief showers offer great benefits: they give temporary relief from the heat, making outings after the rain far more comfortable. In addition, the rain washes the ancient town’s yellow walls to a brighter hue and leaves the air fresh and clear, greatly improving your chances of taking crisp, beautiful photos.
Plentiful Sunshine
Hoi An enjoys its longest daylight hours of the year in June, lasting over 13 hours, with sunrise at around 5:15 and sunset at about 18:19. However, the actual effective time for outdoor activities is far more limited. With scorching heat, you’ll certainly avoid scheduling any outdoor plans at noon.Furthermore, as cloud cover thickens and rainfall increases, Hoi An’s daily sunshine duration in June shortens slightly to an average of around 5 hours. There is no need to worry, though - early mornings and evenings are mostly sunny with soft light when you can take beautiful photos. However, it is important to note that even on overcast days, you must not neglect sun protection. The local UV index reaches 11 or higher, which can easily penetrate clouds and harm your skin.
Is June Not Really a Good Time to Visit Hoi An?
Purely in terms of climate conditions, June is certainly not the best time to visit Hoi An. But if your travel plans have already been made in this period, there’s no need to feel discouraged - this month has its own unique advantages too.Firstly, June draws very few visitors to Hoi An, marking the town’s low tourist season. As you stroll through the ancient town, you will encounter no dense crowds; when taking photos beneath the arch of the Chinese Assembly Hall, you can easily secure an unobstructed prime spot. Most importantly, nearly all local bills are far more affordable at this time - flights and hotels, in particular, cost 30% - 50% less than in peak season, ideal for travelers with limited budget.
Secondly, June is the harvest season for tropical fruits in central Vietnam, when mangoes, durians, mangosteens, rambutans, wax apples and others are at their most abundant, sweetest and cheapest. At local night markets, a large box of freshly cut fruit costs only around US$ 2 - 3.

Advices for Exploring Hoi An in Hot and Humid June
1. Make the Most of Cooler Hours for Outdoor Sightseeing
Midday in June is extremely hot, with high humidity and harsh sunlight, so we recommend avoiding outdoor activities during this time and plan them in the cooler hours instead. For an early start, wander the local markets just outside the ancient town. Lined with bustling stalls, they overflow with fresh local fruit, vegetables, and handicrafts, exuding lively local charm. As dusk descends, head to the Thu Bon River to watch hundreds of lanterns light up along the banks one by one. You can also board a wish lantern boat and release a flower lantern bearing your blessings.
2. Consider Choosing More Indoor Attractions
If you don’t want to waste your midday hours, arrange more indoor attractions. Visit Quan Cong Temple to admire the gilded Guan Yu statue, carved wooden shrines and painted beams, experiencing the exquisite craftsmanship of traditional Chinese temples. Wander through Quang Trieu Assembly Hall, where you can closely view screen walls, stone carvings, old plaques, letters from overseas Chinese and historical steles, learning about the life stories of immigrants in Hoi An. You may also enter local craft workshops to make a Hoi An lantern, have an Ao Dai custom-tailored, or try silk tie-dye, creating unique souvenirs by hand.

Other Tips
1. In hot weather, your digestive system is more vulnerable. Avoid undercooked or raw seafood from street stalls and excessive iced drinks to prevent stomach discomfort. While local tropical fruits are tasty, do not overindulge in high-sugar, heaty fruits such as durian and mango in one sitting, as this may trigger internal inflammation.
2. We recommend choosing hotels with 24-hour individual air conditioning, and being picky when choosing old homestays inside the ancient town. Many traditional homestays are limited by historic building structures, so their air conditioning is weak. With nighttime temperatures still being above 25℃ (77℉), poor cooling will seriously affect your sleep.
