Accessories: It has some rainy days at the beginning of April so umbrella is useful if your trip is mainly in this period. Also, Osaka in April is full of pollen. If you are allergic to pollen, please remember to bring some masks.
Special Recommendation: The most unmissable part of the sakura season is to take photo under the sakura trees in a kimono, traditional Japanese clothing. You can choose to bring your own kimono or rent one in the kimono rental shops after arrival. But for foreign visitors, it is more convenient to rent one.

1. O River

O River is a river flowing through the main city of Osaka. Along the river, visitors can appreciate about 4,800 sakura trees blooming in April. The river also runs through other famous sakura appreciating spots like Kema Sakuranomiya Park and Japan Mint. If you are interested in it, you can take a boat at river dock Hachiken'ya and then enjoy your sakura appreciating journey.

2. Japan Mint Sakura-no-tōrinuke

Every year in mid-April, the Japan Mint opens to the public for one week and provides people a better chance to appreciate the sakura. It has about 125 kinds of sakura and more than 300 sakura trees by the road. The Japan Mint also gives detailed introductions about the best blooming sakura. Visitors who loves sakura can’t miss this chance to appreciate the flowers.

3. Kishiwada Castle

Compared with the two places above, the Kishiwada Castle is quieter and suitable for the people who want a more leisurely trip. In addition to the historical castle itself, it is also famous for its sakura appreciating spot, Garden Hachijin no Niwa. It has about 170 sakura trees and visitors can appreciate the view of ancient architecture combining with marvelous sakura. 

Tip: It is a long distance from the main city of Osaka to the Kishiwada Castle, about 37.4km (23.2mi). Please prepare at least 3 hours if you want to travel there.

4. Nemophila Festival, Osaka Maishima Seaside Park

In April, except the blooming sakura, the nemophila is in full bloom too. Nemophila is also known as the butterfly flower. In Osaka Maishima Seaside Park, about 1 million butterfly flowers bloom in the field of 44,000 square meters (10.9 acres), which is the largest field of butterfly flower in central and western Japan. Every year during the nemophila festival, it has many special facilities for kids like ATV, a kind of beach vehicle. If you visit Osaka with your kids, this is one of the suitable places for you.

Tip: Children are not allowed to drive ATV alone. Parents should accompany your children and drive with caution.
