Note: 2nd class is the hard sleeper cabin, 2 lower and 2 upper berths in both sides but without a door.

For train No. 34, it leaves Ulaanbaatar at 20:45, passengers who have tickets can get on the train directly, and this train will arrive at the border city Dzamyn-ude about 12 hours later, and then Mongolian customs and immigration officials will board the train for security procedures, everyone need to show his/her passport and some luggage will be spot checked. The whole procedure will take about 1.5 hours, then passengers can get off the train to have a simple breakfast at the restaurant at the train station or buy something from the shop there.

The train is ready to set out in China around 10am and will arrive at another border city Erlian in China 25 minutes later. Chinese customs officers get on the train to collect all passenger's declaration form and this takes about half an hour. The train will stop at Erlian for about 3 hours, the train station staff will change the locomotive, passengers can get off the train to watch the whole change and then take a walk around the station. The train does not have long-time stop at the rest of the train stations, and it will finally arrive at Hohhot at about 21:40.

This train will also have a stop at Jining South, which is an important transportation hub in Inner Mongolia, travelers wishing to get off here can buy tickets only for this section.

Kind Reminder for Taking Ulaanbaatar to Hohhot Train

1. Passengers can change the rest of Mongolia Tugrik into Chinese currency from the shop at Erlian train station.
2. If travelers want to take public bus, please prepare small change in advance, the drivers do not speak English and buses do not offer change.
3. The platform at Ulaanbaatar station is just next to the train station, it is open to public and there is no security check, passengers who will take the train can go to the train and show tickets to conductor, there is no need to wait the train at waiting room.
