Ayutthaya
It used to be the ancient capital of the Thai dynasty. So there are many precious cultural and religious relics left behind.

Wat Phra Mahathat, one of the earliest Khmer pagodas was built at Borom Rachathiratl period. Its main tower was about 40 meters (131ft) high, but now only the base can be seen. The most famous site here is a Buddha head surrounded by the banyan. You have to kneel down if you want to take a picture; because mortals cannot be taller than Buddha in Thailand.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, built by the founder of Ayutthaya Dynasty, is exquisite and magnificent. It is the oldest building in Ayuttaya. The temple is famous for its 28-meter-long (91.8ft) Buddha. The Buddha is lying sideways in the middle of ruins, from which people can feel serene atmosphere.

It is the top destination in Chiang Mai and a famous Buddhist resort in Thailand. There is a view platform at the back of the main hall where you can overlook the entire city.
