Shimla climate is predominantly having cold winters and moderately warm during summer. Temperature typically ranges from −4°C (25°F) to 31°C (88°F) for the entire year. The average temperature during summer is between 19 and 28°C (66 to 82°F), and in winter it drops to a freezing temperature of −1 to 10°C (30 and 50°F). Its annual rainfall precipitation varies between 15 mm to 434 mm which is too less than most other hill stations but still much heavier than on the plains. During the monsoon from July to September, Shimla has the most rainy days. This region also receives snowfall, and it takes place in December. Shimla weather kick-starts winter season in October and it lasts till February. The temperature drops down to a minimum of -2°C (28.4°F) and makes the air cool and pleasant.
