Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka: December to April

During these months, many popular destinations of south, west coastal regions and Cultural Triangle are suitable to visit with dry climate condition. You can expect large crowds, so you need to book the accommodation and planet tickets in advance.

These months belong to the wet season and the inter-monsoonal season. But if you do not mind the short shower and want to enjoy a quiet holiday, you can travel to Sri Lanka during these months. The good thing is you can expect lower cost of accommodation and few tourists.

Because the weather is pleasant with dry and sunny days; seas is calm and people can both appreciate the natural beauty and cultural relics. It is advisable to arrange your time and book your hotel early.

The weather of cultural triangle is stable and warm all year round. During May to September, this area is affected by the monsoon with the drier climate, suitable for travelling.

It is the most famous place for tea production with temperate climate. During April to December, the lush tea plantations are particularly beautiful.

This festival lasts ten days between July and August each year. Held in the Sacred City of Kandy. It pays tribute to the Buddha’s tooth relics that are enshrined in the Temple of Tooth. In the evening, dozens of costumed elephants will parade under the leadership of an elephant named Maligawa Tusker (the name of the last king's elephant of Kandy). Numerous tourists gather around Kandy in this month to celebrate it.

It is held from April 13th to 14th each year. This is the most important traditional festival in Sri Lanka, which is considered to be the beginning of spring. It is right after the harvest season, so if you travel to Sri Lanka at this time, you could experience the passion and joy of the local people.
