What to Wear to Mount Fuji in March?

 Clothing
In the early month, a thermal underwear plus a thick outwear like the fur-lined jacket will suffice.   This dressing method also applies to overcast and windy days. In mid-to-late March, it is recommended to wear a thick sweater inside and a three-in-one jacket outside, which is more flexible and you can take off the lining according to the weather conditions.

In terms of the lower part, thick sweatpants would be suitable most time. Also, you can prepare a pair of jeans for warmer days.

Considering the prone-to-rain weather and residual snow in the large scenic areas, comfortable shoes with water-proof and anti-slip properties like the hiking shoes are highly recommended. Besides, bring some high ankle socks for extra warmth.

 Before your visit, check the weather forecast for the next few days at the local weather website. If there is heavy snow, the bus service will be suspended, causing inconvenience to your travel.

 You are recommended to admire the snow-capped Mount Fuji in the morning when the visibility is generally better than at other times. In the afternoon, the weather can easily turn cloudy, obscuring this beautiful view.

 In March, the route to the summit of Mount Fuji is closed, and you can only go as far as the 5th Station. If you plan to go there, prepare your hiking gears in advance, such as warm hiking clothes and a thermos. Also, be aware that the road conditions to the 5th station may vary depending on weather conditions; there may be potential dangers such as slipping on ice or snow.
