The festival generally lasts for three days during which there are interesting dances with varies of masks and sacred ceremonies for appreciating the Padmasambhava. By the way, the Tshechu festival held in Gangtey monastery which is the only one ashram of Tibet Mongolian Lamaism, is just behind the Thimphu Tshechu festival. It’s held to pray for people with more intelligence and strength. And there are dances too. You can choose either of them to go to feel the sacred festival atmosphere. On the morning of the last day of this festival, a giant Thongdral with Padmasambhava’s portrayal is hanged out. They think people who see this will accumulate virtue and wash away sin.
