 Northwestern Mexico: Dry and hot tropical continental climate. 

 Central Mexico: Mild tropical plateau and mountain climate.

 What is the weather like in Mexico? 

Although Mexico is located in tropical zone, the weather is not just hot. Mexico weather has obvious vertical climate features because of the altitude differences. The continental climate in the northwestern inland leads to 4 seasons there. It is cold in winter and hot in summer. Therefore, the annual range of temperature and daily range of temperature there are wide. There is also a small coastal area in the region with hot and wet weather because of its flat terrain and coastal location. The weather in central Mexico is greatly influenced by the Mexico Plateau, which is warm all the year. The weather in southeastern Mexico is hotter and wetter than other regions, which is influenced by the tropical rainforest climate. Mexico has obvious dry season and rainy season. About 75% of the annual precipitation falls in the rainy season from May to September.

Northwestern Mexico Weather

 Major destinations: Hermosillo, Juarez, Tijuana.

 Weather overview: Located in tropical zone and influenced by the continental climate, both the annual range and daily range of temperature in northwestern Mexico are wide, usually more than 15℃ (59℉). Northwestern inland is dry. There is a little rain and it mainly falls in summer. The annual precipitation there is less than 250 mm. But it rains a lot in coastal areas in northwestern Mexico, about 1,000-2,000 mm a year.

 Travel tips: 

Visiting northwestern Mexico in spring is a good choice, which is February to May. The weather is comfortable at this time and there is almost no rain. But be careful about the temperature difference between day and night. You can wear thin and casual clothes in the daytime and put on an additional overcoat in the nighttime. Drinking more water is necessary because the weather is dry.


Central Mexico Weather

 Major destinations: Mexico City, Puebla, Guadalajara.

 Weather overview: Located in the low latitude Mexico Plateau, the weather in central Mexico is temperate all the year. The annual average temperature in the plateau regions is about 20℃ (68℉). The annual range of temperature is narrow, less than 10℃ (50℉), but the daily range of temperature is wide, more than 15℃ (59℉). Besides, the ultraviolet there is strong because of the high altitude. It has obvious dry season and rainy season, which are respectively in October to April and May to September. The annual precipitation in central Mexico is 750-1,000 mm, mainly in the rainy season.


 Destination Recommendation:
1. Mexico City 

The capital of Mexico, Mexico City has beautiful sceneries and abundant historical relics, including Mexican historic buildings and Spanish and European palaces. The coexistence of modern buildings and ancient buildings makes the city more attractive. The popular spots there are Plaza de la Constitución, National Palace of Mexico, La Catedral de Mexic, etc.


2. Oaxaca

Oaxaca has the deepest Mexican local culture atmosphere and the famous Zapotec relics, Monte Albán and Mitela. Monte Albán and the old town of Oaxaca are listed as World Cultural Heritages. Influenced by Indian and Spanish cultures, Oaxacans are creative so that handcrafts there are well-known.

 Travel tips: 

November to May is suitable to visit central Mexico. The weather is temperate and there is little rain. Notice that you need to pay more attention to sun protection because the ultraviolet is strong there. 


Southeastern Mexico Weather

 Major destinations: Chichen-Itza, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen.

 Weather overview: The weather of southeastern Mexico plains is hot and wet all the year, influenced by the tropical rainforest climate. There is no distinct seasons because the annual average temperature is 25-30℃ (77-86℉). It rains less in February to May than other months. The annual precipitation is about 1,000-2,000 mm.


 Travel Recommendation:
1. Chichen-Itza

Chichen-Itza is one of the World Cultural Heritages. It is a site of ancient Mayan and Toltec cultures. Pyramid Temple and astronomical observatory in the north have Mayan features, and Kukulcan Pyramid and Temple of the Warriors in the south have Toltec features.


2. Cancun

Cancun beach is known for its white and soft sand, which is weathered from corals. It has the first underwater museum in the world. You can see many sculptures when you are diving.

3. Playa Del Carmen

 Travel tips: 

You can choose to travel there from February to May, when it rains less than other months. Sun protection and water are required because the air temperature is high.
