The underground army made up of terracotta warriors, horses and bronze chariots was unearthed from the mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang (259BC - 210BC). It was he who conquered the other six kingdoms and founded the first centralized feudal dynasty in Chinese history. The museum established on the original site of Terracotta Army mainly consists mainly of three pits and the exhibition hall of two large scale bronze chariots and horses. The first pit shows the main force of the army. There are 6,000 life-size infantries next to the chariots. The four square arrays of cavalrymen and crossbowmen in the second pit are the essence of the Terracotta Warriors. While the third pit is most likely the headquarters of the powerful army.
Xi'an Museum & Small Wild Goose Pagoda:
Xi'an Museum features its rich relics representing the history and culture of Xi'an - once the capital city of 13 ancient dynasties. The biggest cultural relic inside the museum is the Small Wild Goose Pagoda with over 1,300 years of history. It has the same shape as the well-known Giant Wild Goose Pagoda but is smaller in size. They were both built to store the Buddhist scriptures brought from ancient India. But Small Wild Goose Pagoda is more tranquil and peaceful for tourists to tour around. The pagoda used to have 15 storeys, but the top two storeys were destroyed during the great earthquakes. It is one of the most important landmarks recording the process of Buddhist introduction and chinesization.
Xi'an City Wall:
Built in Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644), it is now the largest and most well-preserved ancient city wall in China. Circling around the inner city of Xi'an, it is 12.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) long, 12 meters (13 yards) high and 12-14 meters (13-15 yards) wide. There are four original gates with towers respectively located in the east, south, west and north. Standing on the Xi'an City Wall, one can imagine how it worked as a defense project against ancient enemies.
