Day 2: July 11: Attend Naadam Festival

If possible, dress yourself up in traditional Mongolian clothes after breakfast. Our guide will come to meet you and escort you to participate the Naadam Festival at the appointed time.

During the festival, a lot of activities will be held, including wrestling, horse racing and archery, the three most favorite activities among Mongolian people. Wrestling is the favorite sport of Mongolian, which has its unique clothes, rules and methods. It is an untimed competition in which wrestlers are not allowed to hold opponents' legs, hit their faces, touch their eyes or ears or kick their abdomens. Wrestlers will lose if any part of their body above the knees touches the ground. Horse racing has no limitation on the participants, even children and women can participate in and the Mongols enjoy the feeling of "flying" on the horse back very much. The archery is divided into short-distance shooting, mounted shooting and long-distance shooting. Both men and women can participate in this competition.

During the festival, you will also have a chance to taste delicious Mongolian food, watch traditional Mongolian dance, and enjoy their wonderful music.

When today’s Mongolia Naadam Festival tour ends, the guide will send you back to the hotel.

Day 3: July 12: Private Ulaanbaatar City Tour

Coming to Ulaanbaatar, how can you not visit its best attractions? Today, the guide will accompany you to explore some of its highlights.

The first spot will be a Tibetan style Buddhism monastery, Gandan Monastery. Initially built in 1835, it has developed into the largest lamasery in Mongolia. The monastery worships a golden Buddha statue, which is one of the national treasures of Mongolia.

The second stop will be Sukhbaatar Square in the city center. At the center of the square, there is a statue of Sukhbaatar, who is a hero of Mongolia. The Parliament House is right behind the statue.

Next, the guide will lead you to National Museum of Mongolia. The exhibitions there present Mongolian history from prehistoric times to the present day, including Mongolia Stone Age ruins and rock carvings, traditional clothes of Mongolian and representative art works of the nomads.

Continue to Bogd Khaan Palace Museum. Built in 1903, it was once the winter palace for the last emperor of Mongolia. The palace houses rich collections, including clothes of the royal families, articles for their daily use, Tangka, Buddha statues and other religious items.

The last spot will be Zaisan Memorial Hill, which is located on a mountain to the south of Ulaanbaatar city. It was built to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the country in the Second World War (1939 - 1945). Besides, it is a great place to overview the whole city.

To conclude the day, a traditional show "Wonders of Mongolia" will be arranged for you, during which you will have a chance to enjoy the famous “throat singing”.
