This is a 17 days escorted tour covering the best of Mongolia and Russia. It will start in Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia. When the tour in Mongolia ends, we will arrange you a train ride to Moscow along the trans-Siberian railway. Hope you will have a great time with us! 


Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar & City Tour

When you land at Ulaanbaatar airport, our guide will pick you up and escort you to settle down in the hotel. After a short break, the tour in Mongolia will officially start. The guide will accompany you to get the first impression of Mongolia by visiting Sukhbaatar Square and Zaisan Hill. Sukhbaatar Square is in city center. In its center, stands a statue of the national hero of Mongolia – Sukhbaatar while in its surroundings, stand many other landmarks of the city, including Parliament House, State Opera and Ballet Theatre and Palace of Culture. Zaisan Hill is a scenic place, on top of which you can take a panoramic view of the whole city.

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Karakorum - Erdene Zuu Monastery

During the next following a few days, we will travel around in Mongolia by private car. Today’s first stop will be Elsen Tasarkhai – the Bayan Gobi, where we will visit a local family to learn some nomadic customs. Next, continue to Karakorum, also called Kharkhorin, the capital of Mongol Empire and the world's center dated back to 13th century; and the nearby Erdene Zuu Monastery, the first Buddhism monastery in Mongolia. Both of them are UNESCO world culture heritages.

Day 3: Ugii Lake

After breakfast, we will set out for Ugii Lake. It will take 4-5 hours to cover the distance of about 280km (170mi). But don’t worry. We will take breaks at scenic places on the way. Ugii Lake is a freshwater lake and it is the habitat of anatidae birds. On arrival, take a boat to intimate with these birds and appreciate the beautiful lake scenery. Then, visit the Khusuu Tsaidam Museum, famous for its collections of ancient Turkic State dated back to 6- 8th Centuries A.D.

Day 4: Hustai National Park

Today will be a climax of this tour. We will head to Hustai National Park to see Takhi, also known as The Przewalski Horses. This national park is the sanctuary of this only surviving wild horse species in the world. On arrival, the guide will accompany you to hike around. If lucky, you will also see other wild animals like marmots and red deer.

Day 5: Hustai National Park - Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex - Terelj National Park
Today, we will visit another famous national park of Mongolia - Terelj National Park, famous for its admirable grassland, forest and strange but attracting stone formations. The guide will escort you to hike to the top of a mountain there and overlook the panoramic of the whole park. 

On the way to this nature park, we will stop at the Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex to feel Chinggis Khaan's greatness. “He” is sitting on the horse with a whip on the hand, like reviewing his mighty army.

Day 6: Terelj National Park - Ulaanbaatar - Irkutsk

The sightseeing in Mongolia will end here. In the morning, our guide and the driver will transfer you to Ulaanbaatar railway station and help you board the train to Irkutsk via trans- Siberian railway.

Day 7: Irkutsk Arrival & City Visit

In the morning, the train will pass by Ulan Ude and Lake Baikal. Seize the chance to take in the cityscapes and the picturesque views of the lake. When arrive in Irkutsk, our local guide will pick you up and then accompany you to visit some highlights of the city by walk, including park and War Memorial, some churches by Angara River, prosperous streets in city center and Statue of Alexander III. After the 2-hour walking tour, you will be transferred to the hotel for a sound sleep.

Day 8: Lake Baikal

Irkutsk is the closest city to Lake Baikal, so we will not miss this great chance to admire the lake scenery at close distance. After breakfast, drive 2 hours to the village of Bolshoe Goloustnoe beside the lake. After checking in a local guest house, the guide will lead you to explore the village on foot. We will visit an old church and also take in splendid lake scenery.

Day 9: Lake Baikal & Irkutsk Departure

This morning, we will continue to explore the village of Bolshoe Goloustnoe and Lake Baikal. The guide will lead you to climb a mountain for a panoramic view of the surroundings. After lunch, the guide will transfer you back to Irkutsk and help you get onto the train to Yekaterinburg.

Day 10: On the Train

Although it takes a long time on the way to Yekaterinburg, you will not feel bored at all. The distinctive natural scenery of remote Siberian regions outside the window make the time fly, which includes rolling hills, lush forests, gurgling rivers and clouds which are almost tangible in the sky. The train will also pass by some modern cities, including Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk.

Day 11: Yekaterinburg Arrival

Today, the train will run by the sparsely populated regions and you can continue to enjoy the unspoiled natural scenery. After passing by rolling hills of Ural Mountains for a while, the train will finally arrive in Yekaterinburg. Our local guide will meet you at the railway station and then transfer you to a cozy hotel by a private car. Have a good rest to restore energy for the next 2 days visit in Yekaterinburg.

Day 12: Yekaterinburg

The escorted trip in Yekaterinburg will start with the idyllic Koptelovo Village nestling in Ural Mountains. There you will have a chance to delve into local traditional lifestyle and customs, and admire distinctive wooden residences called izba. Besides, it could be a special experience to travel around by a horse carriage or a sledge. At the end of the day, you will be transferred back to Yekaterinburg.

Day 13: Yekaterinburg

Today, the guide will firstly lead you to sight-see some historical monuments in Yekaterinburg downtown, including Central Square, statues of Ekaterinburg's founders, 1905 Revolution Square, Church of Spilled Blood and Romanovs' Death Site. Then we will move on to the Romanovs Secret Grace in suburb area. After that, go to the Europe-Asia border to enjoy the frontier scenery. During the return trip to downtown, we will make a stop at a private museum of arms to admire a large collection of weapons.

Day 14: Yekaterinburg - Moscow

After breakfast, this Trans-Siberian railway trip will continue. Our guide and the driver will transfer you to the railway station and help you board the onward train to Moscow. The train will cross the Europe-Asia border and traverse a number of towns and villages.

Day 15: Moscow Arrival

The train will finally reach Moscow early this morning. Our experienced guide will meet you outside the train station and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. After settling down, the guide will accompany you to visit some essential sights in Moscow, including Bolshoi Theater, Tverskaya Street, GUM Department Store, Red Square and St. Basil's Cathedral.

Day 16: Moscow

Today is a free day for you to explore Moscow at your own pace. The city is brimmed with museums, galleries and typical Stalinist architecture featuring a towering main building, spires and white appearance. You may wander around to take some great photos.

Day 17: Departure from Moscow

Today is the last day of this Trans-Siberian tour package, but you still have a free morning to explore more about Moscow. After that, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to the airport or railway station. Nice journey home!
