7:30 to 8:30 Hotel Pick-up
At the pre-arranged time of this morning, our guide will pick you up at the lobby of your self-reserved hotel, and then drive you along the sneaking mountain roads to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. We provide transfer service from the hotels near the East Gate of the Zhangjiajie Forest Park in Wulingyuan District and also in downtown Zhangjiajie, and to facilitate your earlier arrival at the scenic spot and have more time to tour, we suggest you consider staying overnight near the East Gate. You can refer to the 4-star Expert Village Courtyard Hotel or 5-star Pullman Zhangjiajie Hotel, which are the most popular choices among our guests.
Visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon with Glass Bridge
Upon arrival, let’s go straight to the most reputable landmark in the scenic area, the Yuntiandu Glass Bridge. Named by Du Tanghai, an Israeli architectural master, Yuntiandu means that it is a bridge connecting heaven and earth, taking people across the canyon to the wonderland of the sea of clouds. With a length of 536 meters (1,758 feet) and a height of over 300 meters (984 feet), it is known as the world’s tallest and longest suspension bridge spanning two cliffs. As the bridge is mainly constructed with 99 pieces of fully transparent glass, courage will be the essential pass to conquer it. Walking on it, surrounded by mists, verdant woods and streams deep beneath your feet, you may have a feeling of strolling in the clouds. Of course, narrow opaque areas are also designed on both sides, which is also friendly to visitors who are afraid of heights. Afterward, return along the original route to the exit to leave for lunch.

Free Time for Lunch
Lunch today is not included. You are advised to have an abundant breakfast at your hotel this morning and bring some easily carried snacks to replenish energy during the visit. For a locally-flavored simple meal at a restaurant, ask our guide to offer you some appropriate recommendations.
Explore Tianmen Mountain (Heaven’s Gate Mountain)
This afternoon, we will transfer you to the downtown area to take the world’s longest Tianmen Mountain Cableway, which is like a silver chain linking the bustling city and the tranquil Tianmen Mountain, and will whisk you to the summit in about 28 minutes. At the beginning of the climb, you’ll see the villages and fields, but as it gets higher, these sights gradually disappear, replaced by primitive forests and steep karst peaks. After reaching the mountaintop, let’s step onto the 60-meter-long (197-foot-long) Glass Skywalk that juts out from the sheer cliff. You have to hold your breath every step of the way, and although your legs may be weak, the magnificent mountain scenery will make you feel that everything is worth it. Then, take a 7-level escalator down to witness the world’s highest naturally formed Tianmen Cave, aka Heaven’s Gate. Here, sometimes clouds and mists burst forth from it, and sometimes streaks of rosy light emerge through it, as if the inside is a celestial world. After having a great time admiring and taking some satisfied photos, take the express cable car down the mountain and finish today’s sightseeing.

Hotel Drop-off
At the end of this Zhangjiajie small group tour to Glass Bridge and Tianmen Mountain, our guide will escort you back to your hotel. Now that you have come to Wulingyuan District for a trip, why not consider spending one more day with us journeying through the world-renowned Zhangjiajie National Forest Park? If you are interested, check out our other mini group tours. Perhaps also include ethnic ancient towns around Zhangjiajie in your itinerary if your vacation is even longer, and welcome to contact us to customize a private tour to your liking.

Note:
If you want to stay in Wulingyuan District for further sightseeing, it is recommended that you still book your hotel tonight near the East Gate of the park, but if not, it’s better to settle in the downtown area, where you can conveniently reach the airport or train station for connection to your next destination, and also seize the last opportunity to visit iconic downtown sights like 72 Tujia Stilted Buildings.

Dinner Suggestion (at your own expense):
If you want to taste authentic Hunan cuisine in Zhangjiajie, then the Impressive Old Stove is definitely an unmissable food paradise for you. This highly acclaimed chain restaurant has won the hearts of both locals and out-of-town diners for its original wood-fired cooking method on the stove. Whether in the Wulingyuan scenic area or the urban area of Zhangjiajie, you can easily find it. Besides the specialty Tujia Stewpot, a delicacy braised with several meats and vegetables to your liking, boiled giant salamander fish and stewed local chicken are also worth your try.
