Visa: Visitors to Taiwan who hold passports from 53 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Norway and Switzerland, can travel visa-free for no more than 90 days. Visitors from eight countries, including Singapore and Malaysia, can enjoy visa-free for up to 30 days. Nationals of 20 countries, including Colombia, Peru, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, can obtain visa online and stay for up to 30 days. The rest should apply for a valid visa before travelling.
Money Tips: Cash remains the most popular form of payment in Taiwan. You can exchange money when you arrive at the airport, but the rate is better at the banks. Credit cards can be used in hotels, large stores and restaurants. Be aware that they may have additional charges. Always ask before you pay.

When is the best time to visit Taiwan?
The spring from March to May and the autumn from September to November are the best seasons to visit Taiwan. Try to avoid visiting Taiwan during the typhoon season from July to August. June is the rainy season and not a good time to travel. The winter months from December to February can be wet and cold in northern Taiwan, but traveling to south is also a good choice.
I heard that Taiwan is very famous for its night markets. What are the recommended night markets?
The night market in Taiwan is indeed special and worth your exploration. From north to south, almost every city has its own night market, among which the famous ones are the Shilin Night Market in Taipei, the Huayuan Night Market in Tainan, the Ruifeng Night Market in Kaohsiung, and the Fengjia Night Market in Taichung.
What are the must-try snacks in Taiwan?
In Taiwan, you can sample hundreds of different mouthwatering snacks. Some of the must-try foods are Taiwanese Oyster Omelette, Tempura, Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang, Ding Bian Cuo, Fish Balls, Stinky Tofu, Braised Minced Pork Rice, and Iron Egg and so on. Taiwanese Oyster Omelette is ranked No. 1 on the Taiwan snack list. The "omelet" is a mixture of oysters, starchy dough and local greens, then eggs are added after frying. When it's done, it's drizzled with a sweet spicy sauce.

Tempura is a kind of fish cake, which is made by pulping fish or shrimp, adding starch, meat, seafood, etc., making it into long strips, and then frying them in the deep oil.

Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang，means small sausage in large sausage, similar to the American hot dog. The small sausage is a succulent grilled Taiwanese pork sausage, which is wrapped in a large sausage made of glutinous rice.

Ding Bian Cuo: the main course is a white tender piece called "Ding Bian Cuo", and it contains a lot of ingredients such as meat, shrimp, mushroom, fungus, squid, dried fish, bamboo shoots, cabbage etc.
Is it customary to tip in Taiwan?
Taiwan is not a tipping country, but tipping is sometimes appreciated. In general, there is no need to prepare tips for dining in a restaurant or taking a taxi. It is polite to tip the bellman in the hotel for about NT$100. Tour guides and drivers are expecting tips as well. If you are satisfied with their service, you can tip them appropriately.
