Day 1: Arrival in Senegal
You will fly to Dakar, the biggest city in Senegal, which is located in the very western point of Africa. The Dakar rally racing held every year makes this city well-known. Upon arrival, you can take a taxi or shuttle bus to transfer to check in the hotel and then take a good rest to recover from the jet lag for the rest of the day.
Day 2: Dakar
You will have a whole day sightseeing tour in Dakar downtown area. First you are going to visit some markets including Tilen Market which is famous for various medical herbs and traditional folk prescriptions. Then proceed to visit National Art Gallery and the last stop is picturesque district of Medina.
Day 3: Dakar - Goree Island - Dakar
Today, you will head to the famous Goree Island which is recorded into the World Heritage List by UNESCO. Goree Island is one of the earliest colonies established in West Africa by the European. There are still many colonial era buildings such as the slave fortress. Millions of African slaves were transported to the America from here and they had never gone back. Here you will go to visit the Ethnographic Museum and the remained castles.
Day 4: Dakar - Pink Lake - St-Louis
This morning, you will leave Dakar for Pink Lake which is also named Rose Lake because of its color. The extremophiles in the lake is a kind of halophile and it can vigorously live in the lake that one liter water contains 80g to 300g salinity. With these extremophiles, the water appears rosiness which is very romantic. After the tour here, you will go to visit St-Louis, the pre-France colony in the afternoon.
Day 5: St-Louis
Originally, St-Louis was a France colony. In the 17th century, the French colonists came here and settled down. In the middle of the nineteenth century, St-Louis developed into a city with regular urban layout, orderly wharf system and colonized-style buildings, which all make the city charming and attractive.
Day 6: St-Louis - Djoudj - Dakar
Before returning to Dakar, you will first to visit the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary. There are nearly 400 kinds of birds living here, such as pelican and flamingo. After visit here, you will go back to Dakar.
Day 7: Departure from Senegal
The whole morning is free for you and you can tour around the city nearby on your own. Then you will transfer to the airport and take a flight leaving from Senegal.
