Belo sur Mer is the entrance to the Kirindy Mitea National Park where three species of Madagascar’s endemic baobabs grow. Fossas are the largest kind of predator in the country and the Kirindy Mitea National Park is one of their habitats. They usually live alone, but appear more frequently between September and November, their mating season. Besides, they are more used to finding food at dusk or in the evening, so it’s easier to see them in your night tour in the park in these months.

Sea temperatures, wind speed, and rainfall are all factors determining whether water sports are feasible. Sea temperatures range from 24 to 30°C (75 to 86°F) per month on average throughout the year, making it suitable to enjoy swimming and snorkeling. The wind speed ranges from 15 to 19 kph (9 to 12 mph) averagely all year round. Under this, people can enjoy surfing in gentle breezes and on the sea with light spray. As mentioned above, Belo sur Mer receives low rainfall in its dry season, so it’s more convenient to enjoy water sports during this period.

In this season, with the UV index of 6 or 7, UV radiation is strong during the four hours at noon, when outdoor activities are thus not suggested. Besides, sea temperatures are lower in the morning, so the best time to play water sports in Belo sur Mer is afternoon in the dry season.

So it’s not recommended to visit Belo sur Mer in its rainy season.
