LB103: One Day Self-driving Tour from Beirut to Tyre
Itinerary Details
Introduction
Tyre is a harbor city located in South Lebanon, 80 kilometers/ 50 miles away from the capital city of Beirut. It was the most magnificent Phoenician city and trade center in Mediterranean area in ancient time. Tyre is now in ruins and has become an archaeological site, where you can see many roads and arches built in Roman times.

There is no public bus or train in Lebanon. Taxi is available, while a self-driving sightseeing day may be better due to its flexibility of time and arrangements.

Car Rental:
You may book a car in advance or after arrival. There are many car rental agents and the price varies from USD70 to USD180 per day depending on the season and the size of the car. They offer some convenient locations for tourists to pick up or return cars. You can even pick one from airport once you arrive there, and return at any of their locations, or at the end of the tour, still make it at the airport.

Driving Route:
Tyre is located in the southwest of Beirut. You may drive southward from the General Foaad Chehab for 210 meters to enter the Serail/ 51 M highway. Then drive for 40.5 kilometers/ 25 miles (around 35 minutes) to Takkeyeddine El Solh (Sidon) and exit from 51 M. Afterwards, enter the Coastal Highway/ Saida from Cournichi El Bacher and Rafic El Hariri. After 7 kilometers/ 4.5 miles driving on Coastal Highway/ Saida, continue to drive 20 kilometers/ 12.5 miles to Kfar Badde/ Nabatiyeh, then drive out of Coastal Highway/ Saida to Tyre Highway/ 51 M. Continue to drive from 51 M for 13.2 kilometers/ 8 miles to El Kouds (Tyre). There you are in Tyre. You will drive back to Beirut the same way after your visiting.
