In the morning, please walk to the railway station to take a train to Ollantaytambo on your own. When you arrive there, our tour guide and the driver will meet you and show you around the nearby villages with Inca relics. As you walk along the traditional streets, you will feel the history of the Inca Empire. Then we will drive by the scenic Sacred Valley to Urubamba Village to have lunch.
Next, we will drive to Maras Salt Mines which contains 3,000 salt mines and it is known as a salt production center that dates back to pre-Inca times. The last stop today will be Moray, and we will visit famous concentric terraces here.
Moray terraces were used by the Incas to experiment with crops. The terraced fields are up to 30 meters deep, with a temperature difference of 0.5 degrees Celsius between each layer, and 15 degrees between the highest and lowest terraced fields, resulting in dozens of microclimates. The Incas cleverly took advantage of the nature of the terraces, planting different plants and grains here to study their growing environment and desired characteristics. Finally, we will stay in the hotel near Urubamba Village.
