Trip Planning FAQs

For meals not included in my Cuba Travel Package, how much money should I prepare for?
You are advised to prepare $30 to $50 CUC per person per meal as food in Cuba is expensive due to a 50+ year economic embargo and the depressed agriculture.
Is it possible to visit Vinales Valley from Havana within one day?
It takes 3 hours by car from Havana to Vinales Valley. One day is sufficient to visit a tobacco plantation, the Indian Caves, and the Mural de la Prehistoira in the valley. While if you want to do some hiking, you may consider staying one night there.
Is it safe to travel in Cuba?
Yes, Cuba is one of the safest country in the world. However, the pickpockets can also occur, so please do not walk around with all your money, do not wear expensive jewelry, and do not go to dark alleys.
What kind of clothing should I bring during my Cuba Travel Package?
The climate in Cuba is warm, so thin clothing would be ok. If you go out at night, long-sleeved T-shirt is recommended to protect against mosquitoes. You can also bring a sweater and a waterproof jacket in case of rainy days.
Should I need to bring my own toilet tissue?
There's a shortage of toilet tissue in Cuba. It is available in most of the hotels, but in most public washrooms, there is no toilet tissue, so during the tour you need to bring some for use.
How much should I tip for services received?
In hotels, you are suggested to tip $1 CUC per bag for porter and $2 CUC per room per night for housekeeping. During a private guided Cuba tour, it is advised to tip $10 CUC per person per day for your tour guide and $7 CUC per person daily for your driver. In restaurant, normally tip about 10% of your consumption amount.
Where can I spend my free time in Cuba at night?
Most travelers like to go to Casa de la Trova bar to enjoy Cuba music at night. In Cuba, almost every city has Casa de la Trova bar.
