 Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak has been regarded as the symbol of Hong Kong since its opening to the outside world. With a height of 554 meters (1,818 feet) above sea level, Victoria Peak is the highest peak in the area and a famous attraction of Hong Kong.

A modern seven-story Peak Tower was built on Victoria Peak in May of 1997, taking the place of the old one. With a bowl-like exterior, Peak Tower building combines sightseeing, entertainment and shopping. Peak Tower is an essential part of any Hong Kong visit any time of day in any weather.

The first Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum of Asia has been established in Peak Tower. The Museum exhibits lifelike wax statues of famous people including athletes, film stars and political figures.

The Peak Tram has been in operation since 1888. A trip from the foot to the top of the mountain takes seven minutes. The Peak Tram runs from 7:00 until midnight at intervals of approximately ten minutes.

Getting There:
Take the Peak Tram at Garden Road Terminal, or take public bus No. 15 at the Exchange Square Bus Terminus in Central.

 Repulse Bay

Repulse Bay is the most popular swimming place in Hong Kong with convenient transportation. Located in the south of Hong Kong Island, Repulse Bay is endowed with a pleasant seascape and charming vistas. Walking along the beach, one can feel the soft sands and tepid water. Here stand statues of Tin Hau, Queen of the Sea and Kwan-yin, Goddess of Mercy, protectors of fishermen.

Many shops, department stores, restaurants and supermarkets ring the beach. The Repulse Bay Shopping Arcade built on the site of an original luxury hotel includes a small department store with shops. Inside the department store is a clinic, a roof restaurant and a restaurant serving Chinese and Western food.

With exotic buildings surrounded by beauty, Repulse Bay has become a highly prestigious residential area.

Getting there:

1. Take the subway and get off at Central Subway Station Exit A, then take bus No.6, 6A, 6X or 260 at the Bus Terminal of Exchange Square to Repulse Bay.

2. Take bus No. 40 at Tang Lung Street of Causeway Bay or bus No. 52 at Yue Kwong Road of Aberdeen.

Located by the ocean, Hong Kong's climate is a sub-tropical. Both spring and autumn are sunny and comfortable, with the temperature is averaging at about 23 ?. Summer with an average temperature of 28 ? is sweltering and humid. Winter is dry and cool, with an average temperature of 17 ?. So in the summer and winter, Hong Kong is respectively neither, too hot or too cold. This makes Hong Kong a year round travel destination. Of course, ideally speaking, spring and autumn are the best time for a visit.
