Day 1: Arrival in Beijing
Our guide and driver will greet you at Beijing airport, and soon you will be escorted to the hotel by our driver. After checking in the hotel, you can relax and prepare for your forthcoming silk route tour package.

Accommodation: The Great Wall Hotel Beijing (5 stars) - the former Sheraton

Day 2: Beijing
After a tour briefing in the hotel lobby, with our guide you will head to Tiananmen Square and then the Forbidden City, one of the must-see attractions in China. Located in the city center, it served 24 emperors and their families during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368 – 1912).

After an enjoyable welcome lunch with Peking Duck in an a la carte restaurant, we will proceed to the Temple of Heaven. This is where emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices asking the Gods of heaven for a bumper harvest. In the evening a highly entertaining Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre is sure to impress you.

Day 3: Beijing
Today we will ascend the Mutianyu Great Wall. It is the most beautiful section of Great Wall, which is well-preserved with splendid unique architectural structures. You can also take a round trip cable car to reach the wall ensuring you get the best views. We will propose a toast with red wine to memorize the wonderful day during a rest period. Because of the poor choice of restaurants there, we recommend you to bring something with you for lunch.

On the way back to the city, we will explore a traditional market before leaving for your hotel.

Day 4 Beijing - Xi'an
Today we will go to the Summer Palace, also called The Museum of Royal Gardens. After that, we will allot some time to take photos at one of the Beijing landmarks, Olympic National Stadium and then leave for a delicious a la carte lunch. Later, we will arrange a Beijing Hutong Rickshaw Tour for you to experience the culture and customs of Hutong. There is also the opportunity to get to know one of the famous folk arts in China, paper cutting.

Afterwards, our local guide will take you to the airport for the flight to Xi’an. Our Xi’an guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel.

Day 5: Xi'an
Today we will continue our Silk Road tour in Xi’an. To begin with, we will visit Terracotta Army and explore the military system, politics, culture and art of Qin dynasty (221 BC –207 BC) through those lifelike sculptured warriors, horses, and chariots buried with the Qin emperor.

At noon, we will be welcomed by a local family where you can spend a nice time chatting, learning to cook local dishes and enjoying a home-cooked lunch.

In the afternoon, we will proceed to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a representative work of ancient Buddhist towers built over a period of some 1,300 years. It is also a historical site of Silk Road which witnessed the introduction and development of the Chinese form of Buddhism.

In the evening, you will be well entertained by an excellent Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show. In the meanwhile, you can enjoy a tasty Dumpling Dinner.

Friendly Tips:
As the theater is usually not open in Jan, Feb, Mar and Dec, we will not arrange the show and dumpling dinner for tours during the periods. Guests will enjoy free time to relax.

Day 6: Xi'an
Today we will visit the Xi’an City Wall and its surrounding park. The park is very popular with local people for their morning exercises and we also invite a Tai Chi master from whom you could learn some basic knowledge and movements. Then we will go on to the wall, the largest and most complete ancient city wall in China as well as one of the best places to overlook the city.

After an a la carte lunch, we will head to Shaanxi History Museum, an excellent place to delve into the history of Chinese civilization through its abundant cultural relics spanning more than one million years. Then we will go to Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter to experience the Islamic culture, traditional food and customs.

Day 7 Xi'an - Dunhuang
Today your Silk Road tour package will truly begin. This morning, you are free to explore the city by yourself. At noon, our Xi’an guide will accompany you to the airport and help you catch the flight to Dunhuang. Our Dunhuang Guide will see you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.

Later, we will leave for Echoing-sand Dune where we can ride a camel to see endless dunes and the amazing Crescent Lake.

Day 8 Dunhuang - Turpan
Today we will visit a must-see scenic spot of the silk route package, the Mogao Grottoes. With its construction lasting for over 1,000 years, it is the largest treasure chest of Buddhist art in the world famous for its comprehensive collections of architectures, colored sculptures and frescos.

After that, our guide will send you to Liuyuan Railway Station and help you board the 3.5-hour bullet train to Turpan. Our Turpan guide will wait for you at railway station and pick you up before driving to the hotel.

Day 9: Turpan
In the morning, we will go sightseeing in Ancient City of Jiaohe , the world’s oldest and best-preserved city built in raw soil with a history of over 2,000 years as well as a must pass of ancient Silk Road. After that, we will visit Karez Well. Unique to Turpan area, this ancient irrigation system now still works as the source of life there. Later we will go to Emin Minaret, a unique tower of Islam creatively built 230 years ago.

Day 10: Turpan - Urumqi
In the morning, we will visit another ancient city of your silk route package, Ancient City of Gaochang. It used to be an important center of politics, economy, culture, religion and military on Silk Road. Then we will move to Baizikeli Thousand Buddha Cave, an ancient royal temple built in the 4th century that flourished for 840 years, and Flaming Hill, mainly formed by rocks from Jurassic, Cretaceous and Tertiary period. After that, we will drive to Urumqi and settle down for one night.

Day 11 Urumqi - Shanghai
After breakfast, our guide will help you get to the airport to fly to Shanghai. Our Shanghai guide will pick you up at the airport and escort you to the hotel. The remaining day is yours, either to have a good rest or go out for some entertainment.

Day 12: Shanghai
After breakfast, we will continue our silk route package in Shanghai. First, we will go to Shanghai Museum, a large modern museum of Chinese ancient art featuring exquisite bronze wares, porcelain, calligraphies and paintings. Then we will proceed to Yu Garden and its traditional bazaar.

After an a la carte welcome lunch, we will hang out at the Former French Concessions to explore its history and culture at ease. Then we will head to the Bund and board the Huangpu River cruise ship on which we can view the charming cityscape of this international metropolis. After that we will go back to the hotel. Here we come to the end of your silk route tour.

Day 13: Departure from Shanghai
