Berlin & Potsdam Tour

Thanks for travelling with us. After your flight arrives in Berlin, the private coach will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own. Berlin is the capital and the biggest city in Germany and also its political, cultural and financial center. After the Second World War, Germany was divided into East Germany and West Germany. The Berlin Wall in the city center is the demarcation line. You can walk around the hotel to have a glimpse of the humanity and culture and natural environment here.

Today we will spend the entire day exploring Berlin. First, the guide will lead you to the Potsdamer Platz in the city center. Then take the fastest elevator in Europe up to top of Kollhoff-Tower to have a panoramic view of Berlin. Then, visit other attractions like Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie. Brandenburg Gate, erected between 1788 and 1791, was a symbol of Germany division during the cold war and now is the national symbol of unity and peace. The gate will help you get a glimpse of the world behind the Iron Curtain. Checkpoint Charlie was one of the three border checkpoints between East and West Berlin from 1961 to 1990. It was the most famous crossing point for allied troops between East and West Berlin at that time, and it was also the only city passage for all foreigners between East and West Berlin.

After the visit, we will get on a boat and visit government district of Berlin along the Spree River. After the visit, return to the hotel.

Today we will leave Berlin for the old garrison town Potsdam, a popular destination for one day Berlin side trip. There are splendid palaces and gardens here. The most famous Sanssouci Palace was built in the 18th century by Prussian King Frederic II imitating the Palace of Versailles in France. It is also his favorite palace. The entire palace and gardens cover an area of 90 hectares. As the essence of German architectural art in the 18th century, the construction of the palace lasted for 50 years.

Our half-day Potsdam trip will also cover the Dutch Quarter and the Russian Colony Alexandrovka. The preserved Dutch Quarter was built between 1734 and 1742 for Dutch workmen in Potsdam and has 4 blocks in total. The brick houses here all have a Dutch look - with white joints, shutters and partially curved gables. The Russian Colony Alexandrovka was established in 1826 by King Frederick William III in memory of his close friend. After the tour, we will return to Berlin.
