Itinerary Details
Your private Angkor Wat day tour starts. Our guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel you booked personally at 8:00. If the weather is good enough and you are interested, you can make an appointment with the guide in advance to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, and you need to get up earlier for this great view.

Angkor Wat in Siem Reap was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1992, and is regarded as one of the Four Wonders of the Orient, together with Great Wall in China, Taj Mahal in India, and Borobudur Temple in Indonesia. King Suryavarman II ordered its construction during the 12th century and it took around 35 years to complete. It served as the royal court as well as the national temple in the old times. Magnificent buildings and elegant reliefs there well represent the Khmer classical architectural art.

After strolling around the Angkor Wat, we will then proceed to the capital of Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom, which is also the last capital city of Angkor Empire (802 - 1431). There are numerous relics of that period and the most famous ones are Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple, Terrace of Elephants, and Ta Prohm Temple.

Bayon Temple is located at the heart area of the city. Although it looks dilapidated, you can still find vivid carvings on the walls, portraying ancient wars, people’s life, and the landscape of Tonle Sap Lake inside the capital city. There are 54 four-faced Buddha stupas on the top of the temple and you can see all of the faces are wearing a smile; this unique scene forms the well-known Smile of Angkor.

Baphuon Temple was built for Shiva in 1060, who is one of the three chief gods of Hinduism. Ta Prohm Temple is another famous religious building of the Angkor Thom. Here you can see an old tree, which might have stood there for hundreds of years, twined with stone stupas and corridors of temple, making this place like a deserted magical castle in fairytales. You might find this place very familiar as the movie Tomb Raider was shot there.

This private Angkor Wat trip would definitely not miss the Terrace of Elephants whose construction work was ordered by the King Jayavarman VII at the end of 12th century. It is a huge platform for kings to enjoy the grand ceremonies, review the troops, and watch the fierce elephant-fight. You can also find many exquisite reliefs around the platform and the most impressive ones are the two elephant squads carved on the two sides.

If you feel like watching the sunset over this ancient capital city, our guide will take you to the Ta Prohm Temple or the Bakheng Temple, where you can take great shots of the sunset.

Your private Angkor Wat tours from Siem Reap in Cambodia comes to an end at this point. Our guide will escort you back to your hotel. It is suggested that you can have a big dinner in a fine restaurant nearby your hotel. Have a nice day!

The atmosphere throughout the trip was pleasant and harmonious. It was hot but we had plenty of time to rest. Optimistic and lovely, thoughtful and responsible, our guide always took good care of the old people. The explanation was concise and focused. She also warmly took pictures of us. She loved her country very much and said that her country was developing. She is full of hope for the future of Cambodia.
It is a land of hope with sanguine people! I think Angkor is a must-see destination. There we could see the glory of the Angkor Empire!

Some scenic spots were wonderful and stunning, while others looked dilapidated. But we could still find vivid carvings on the walls depicting the ancient wars and Cambodian people’s life. From a distance, Angkor Wat was quite magnificent! History was indeed memorable!
