Welcome to join the Petra tours! In the early morning, your English-speaking driver will pick you up from your hotel in Amman and drive along the desert road for about 2.5 hours to the amazing attraction of our Petra tours, the ancient city of Petra, also known as the "City of Roses". Here you will be accompanied by an English speaking local guide for a tour lasting 2.5 hours.
The ancient city of Petra is a historical city in southern Jordan. The rocks of Petra are reddish and shine brightly in the sun. Therefore, it is also called the "City of Roses". In fact, the rocks here are not only red, but also light blue, orange, yellow, purple, and green. It is one of the mysterious ancient cities in the southern desert of Jordan and one of Jordan's most prestigious historical sites. On July 8, 2007, it was selected as the New Seven Wonders of the World. Petra was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom. It was ruled by the Roman Empire in 106 AD and became a province of the Roman Empire later. So, we can see architectures in ancient Roman style.
To start the Petra tour package, we will ride a horse from the entrance of the Petra Scenic Area to the famous Siq Canyon. Winding along the narrow path, we will go to the core of the ancient city of Petra, the Al Khazna, a treasured temple palace carved on the mountain. There is a large square, with the 40-meter-high (131 feet) and 30-meter-wide (98 feet) Al Khazna standing in front of the square. With a history of two thousand years, it is also known as the 'Treasure'. There are still murals on the stone walls of the palace. Although the original murals are dim, the pictures drawn by the rough lines are still clear and legible. It's the shooting location of the famous movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Its most striking feature is the color. Since the entire building is carved in the sand and stone walls, the pink, red, orange and crimson layers are vivid and clear under the sun, and the stone is also flickered under the sunshine.
Follow the Street of Facades, we will then visit the Royal Tombs, the ancient Roman theater, and the Qasr al-Bint. The Royal Tombs are respectively the Palace Tomb, Corinthian Tomb, Silk Tomb and URN Tombs. The ancient Roman theatre has a total of 34 rows. It has stepped seats that can accommodate 6,000 spectators. The stage is paved with megaliths and surrounded by four large stone columns and the carvings on the columns are exquisite and vivid.
You can visit other sites by yourself in the afternoon, and return to the gate of the scenic spot in the same way at the agreed time. The driver will take you back to the hotel in Amman. Here your Jordan Petra tours come to an end. (Lunch included; Tour duration: about 10 hours)
