In the early morning, our driver will meet you at your hotel at the appointed time and escort you to Jaipur. It takes around 4 hours and our professional guide will be waiting for you in Jaipur.
After a warm greeting from the guide, your same day Jaipur tour starts from the spectacular Amber Fort. Located high on a hill, Amber Fort built in 1592 is about 11 km (6.8 mi) from Jaipur City, being a strong fortress to guard the ancient city all the time. As the most remarkable palace in the Jaipur area, the Amber Fort along the hill was built of white, yellow and red stone marbles, looking like a piece of crystal amber from a distant place. The old capital of the city also fused Hindu, Islamic and Mughal architectural styles. Surrounded by great city walls and a moat, the fort is composed of a lot of separated palaces laid out on 4 levels. All the entrances are decked out some exquisite carvings and colorful patterns, along with various beautiful murals. The most impressive palace is definitely Sheesh Mahal, also called Mirror Palace, where you can see the roofs and walls all decorated with little mirrors, especially beautiful under sunshine. After appreciating the fabulous construction, we will go back to Jaipur city. On the way, we will have a photo stop for the famous Hawa Mahal, another iconic building of the Pink City, whose grandeur red appearance will leave you a lasting impression.
Next, it's lunch time! Although it is not included on our journey, the guide will be glad to offer some recommendations about the local food. After lunch, you will be accompanied to visit the City Palace, one of the highlights of the same day Jaipur tour. It is located in the old city center and had witnessed the rise and decline of the Mughal Empire. Firstly built in the year of 1792, the City Palace combined the Indian and Mughal architecture perfectly, and expanded by other royals in the following years. Today, it is still a palace for the royals to stay and only a part of it is opened to the public. At present, tourists can visit Mubarak Mahal, a place where the royal family used to entertain guests but now it has transformed into an exhibition hall to display textile and gorgeous garments. Next, Sileh Khana, a weapon museum shows old swords, arches, armors and spears. You cannot miss Diwan-i-Am, either. It exhibits some old scripts pertain to daily life and mythologies. Some fabulous paintings can also be enjoyed there. Besides the grand architecture, City Palace is really a good place for visitors to explore India's history.
The next stop of the same day Jaipur tour by car is Jantar Mantar, only a short walking distance from the City Palace. It is the largest and the most completed observatory in India built by Sawai Jai Singh II, compared to the other 4 counterparts in Delhi, Varanasi and Ujjain. Various giant sculptures and bizarre buildings are scattered on the lawn. The largest sundial in the world, with around 300-year history, can also be seen here, along with several instruments for astronomical observation. Our guide will be delighted to give you an introduction about how these nice instruments work. Finish the astronomy visit of Jantar Mantar, you will have a chance to enjoy the most photogenic Water Palace and take photos of its stunning appearance from the bank as it hasn't opened to the public yet. Today's tour just ends here and our driver will convoy you back to the hotel in Agra. Hope you enjoy a good day!
