Visit a local herdsman's family to experience their nomadic life.
Dear friends, you will be picked up at your hotel by our guide at around 9 o'clock in the morning. Then our Hustai National Park Tour starts.
The first stop is Gandan Monastery in the central urban area, Mongolia's largest temple. It is also the only Tibetan Buddhist temple that was built in 1838 with many Chinese and Tibetan buildings by the Living Buddhas at that time. Since then, it became the preaching place for successive Living Buddhas. Gandan means Elysian Fields, and Gandan Monastery is a peaceful land. The locals often feed groups of doves in the square in their spare time.
Behind Gandan Monastery, it is the Megjid Janraisig Temple of Avalokitesvara. Mounted with diamonds, the splendid Megjid Janraisig Sud is a gold-plated bronze statue of Avalokitesvara who has many arms. The 92-feet high statue is the largest bronze Buddha all over the world filled with a great number of herbs, Buddhist texts and prayers inside, which is Mongolia's national treasure. Hundreds of small figurines of Buddha are placed tidily in the surroundings, looking like so many Buddhas pay respects to Avalokitesvara.
Then we will drive to the major destination of our Hustai National Park tour - Hustai National Park, about 62 miles in the south of Ulaanbaatar. It is a reserve established in 1993 in order to protect endangered animals and grassland environments. It covers an area of 50,620 hectares, where you can see marals, deer, antelopes, wild boars, wolves, etc. In particular, you can see the rare Prezewalski wild horses. The landscapes are quite beautiful with diverse meadow plants, such as lichens and mosses.
On arrival there, our guide will take you to a small Ger information center near the entrance. There are two Mongolian yurts introducing Hustai National Park and Prezewalski horses. You can watch the video of a documentary of wild horses to learn more knowledge about them.
We will have lunch in a Mongolian yurt. You can try the remarkable Mongolian barbecue and local bakery, which are the specialty of Mongolia and Hustai National Park.
In the afternoon, you will go on the Hustai National Park tour to seek for the real Prezewalski wild horses with our guide. The guide can lead you to the best viewpoint to observe these powerful creatures in the wild. A telescope should be necessary for you. When you find them, you can take photos to remember the moment.
After witnessing wild horses in person, you will follow our guide to visit a local herdsman's family, where you will receive a warm welcome and be treated by the hospitable host. You can experience the life of a herdsman, to ride a horse, herd cows or sheep, and taste the homemade specialties. You will bring a successful close to our tour with these fun activities.
In the end, we have to return back to Ulaanbaatar downtown. At about 18 o'clock, the guide will send you back to your hotel. Enjoy yourselves on the trip!
