Itinerary Details
Welcome to our Dead Sea to Petra tour! In the early morning, your English-speaking driver will pick you up from the Dead Sea Hotel and drive for nearly 3 hours to Jordan's must-see place – the "City of Rose", the ancient city of Petra.

Petra, the destination of this Dead Sea to Petra tour, is a historical city in southern Jordan, about 260 kilometers (162 miles) from the capital Amman. It is one of the mysterious ancient cities in the southern desert of Jordan and one of the country's most prestigious monuments. On July 8, 2007, it was selected as the New Seven Wonders of the World. Petra used to be an integral part of the Roman Empire. Also it was the capital of the Nabataean (ancient Arab tribe) kingdom. Petra was extremely prosperous in the 1st century BC. It was captured by the Roman Empire in 106 AD and became a province of the Roman Empire. So now you can see many buildings that were often found in ancient Roman culture, such as the theater, the square, and the public baths. The rocks of the ancient city of Petra have a coral reddish tint that shines brightly in the sun. The special landform makes it show beautiful colors, so it is also called the "City of Rose".

We will ride a horse from the entrance of the Petra Scenic Area to the famous Siq Canyon. The Siq Canyon is known as the "Rose Canyon" and is the only entrance to the ancient city of Petra, winding and deep. The canyon is very narrow, with a length of about 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) and a width of about 7 meters (23 feet). The narrowest point allows only one car to pass.

  • Al Khazneh
Al Khazneh Temple, known as "The Treasury"

From the narrow path, we will head towards the Al Khazneh, which is located in the heart of the ancient city. It is the highlight for Petra tour from Dead Sea. Also called the Treasure, it is a temple carved on the mountain. Al Khazneh is a chiseled rose-colored boulder, 42 meters (138 feet) high and 27.4 meters (90 feet) wide. This is a Roman Corinthian temple with majestic colonnades and fine detailed carvings. It is Petra's most famous monument. Although it has been eroded for hundreds of years, the treasure house is still well preserved. Under the sun, no matter from any angle, it can give you a magical feeling.

We will follow the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and visit the ancient Roman Theater and Qasr al-Bint. Then you will be free to visit other sites by yourself, and then return to the gate of the scenic spot in the same way at the agreed time.
