Our guide will first take you to the Angkor Archaeological Park by a private car, and start our Angkor wat day tour with Angkor Thom sightseeing. Angkor Thom complex was once the capital of the Khmer Empire and is now famous for the South Gate and temple grounds. At the South Gate you will see well-preserved stone figures with lifelike details lining along the road. Going inside, we will explore the Bayon Temple, the central of Angkor Thom. Carved on the top of the towers, the 200 smiling faces, which are known as "the smile of Khmer", impress all the visitors. You will also see many marvelous Hindu carvings and figures. As you enjoy their beautiful views, our guide will explain the history and religious stories behind like Samudar-manthan (the Churning of the Ocean of Milk). Afterwards, our guide will advise you the best restaurant of this area for you to have your lunch. After a short rest, we will proceed to the Ta Prohm Temple, a stone temple built in 1186 as a Buddhist monastery. It is gradually devouring by the jungle and famous for the massive trees growing out of its walls. The popular Hollywood movie Tomb Raider once used it as the backdrop. Exploring this jungle temple, you will be surprised by the power of nature and embraced by a mysterious atmosphere. Later, we will visit the Angkor Wat, the world's biggest religious structure and a representative Khmer architecture. Surrounded by a vast moat, Angkor Wat is a majestic structure which covers over 400 acres. It was originally built as a Hindu temple complex but it became a Buddhist temple by the end of the 12th century. Thus we can see both exquisite Hindu and Buddhist bas-reliefs. As you explore the old temple, our guide will narrate the stories of this monument and point out the nice places for taking photos. Finally we will enjoy a sunset view at the Phnom Bakheng.
