Angkor Temple Bike Tour to Angkor Wat - Angkor Thom - Bayon Temple - Ta Prohm
Welcome to visit Angkor Wat by bike! We friendly suggest you have a good rest to save energy before the Angkor Wat bike tour, and bring some sunscreens as well as comfortable clothes for a perfect experience. Kindly remind you not to wear sleeveless/see-through tops and shorts above knee length as they are prohibited at our target monuments.
At around 07:30, our guide will meet you at your hotel in central Siem Reap city. After a safety briefing, we will start our exciting cycling and directly ride to the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will first visit the Angkor Wat, a 12th-century majestic Khmer temple complex that took 30 years to complete. It used to be the royal center of the Khmer Empire and is the largest religious structure in the world. Surrounded by an enormous moat, it consists of numerous well-preserved temple grounds which contain both Hindu and Buddhism decoration. Riding in this intricate temple complex, you will see many elevated towers and galleries covered with delicate carvings. You can also get a deeper insight of Khmer culture with the explanation of the history, design and significance of this monument from our guide.
Finished cycling Angkor Wat, we will pedal to the Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire. At the South Gate of this old city you can see 108 vivid stone sculptures of deities and demons standing along the main road. Riding to the central of Angkor Thom, we will reach the Bayon Temple, where carved 200 smiling faces greeting to the visitors with peace and kindness. As the heart of Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple has many well-preserved bas-relief carvings reflecting the history, myths, and daily life of the Khmer Empire. Afterwards, you will learn about the Khmer military parade at the Terrace of the Leper King. We will also visit the Royal Enclosure, once the palace complex of the Angkor kings, whose wooden palaces are gone now so we can only see the surrounding laterite walls with carvings. Hearing about the royal life of the Khmer Empire from our guide, you can imagine the splendid scene here hundreds of years ago.
After lunch break, our guide will lead you to cycle through Ta Prohm (the Jungle Temple), a stone temple covered with vast trees and roots. Over years the trees had loosen the stones and grew out its walls. The combination of moss, giant roots and the finely carved temple ruins gives the visitors a mysterious feeling. Thus Ta Prohm was once used as a backdrop in the popular Hollywood movie Tomb Raider. When the tour is over, our guide will accompany you back to your hotel. We wish you a satisfying trip!
