Welcome to Alexandria, an ancient city located near the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. As the second largest city in Egypt, Alexandria is not only the economical center of the country, but also is rich in history and cultural heritages. It was once the capital of the Ptolemaic Egypt and a silent witness to the alternation of the dynasties. There are many ancient architectures left by the ancient kingdoms, which show their past glory.

This 20-meter column constructed of a granite monolith is one of the biggest monolithic pillars built by the ancients and was the symbol of Alexandria 1,600 years ago. Nearby the giant pillar sits a statue of sphinx peacefully, which looks like a silent guardian of this area.

Originally constructed in the 2nd century AD, this burial chamber belonged to a family initially, but later was expanded as a necropolis which can accommodate 300 bodies. Inside the catacomb, you will see various reliefs and sculpture in the combined styles of the Pharaonic, Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman.
