Also, we will not miss the classic attractions on the way to Jaipur from Agra, like Fatephur Sikri and Chand Baori Step Well. It's really an essential tour for visitors who want to explore the Indian Golden Triangle in a short time.
This day, it is suggested to get up in the early morning as we will head to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, also the highlight of the Agra Jaipur tour. Morning can be the best time of a day to visit the white-marble mausoleum, when it will be less crowded for visitors to appreciate the great architecture while enjoying the beautiful sunrise. The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for memorizing his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Famous Indian poet Tagore once described it as a 'tear-drop' glistening one the cheek. As the epitome of Mughal architecture, the mausoleum combines the styles of Mughal and Islamic characteristics and features the beauty of a symmetrical structure, offering you a glimpse of the glorious Mughal Empire. Leaving the Taj Mahal, we will drive to Fatephur Sikri, another UNESCO world heritage site located about 40 km (25 mi) from Agra and one of the finest masterpieces of Mughal architecture. Composed of two main parts: palace complexe and the elegant Jama Masjid, the fort combines Islamic and Hindu architecture styles. What's more, you can see the highest gate of Asia at the entrance of the fort, the 54m (177ft) high carved gate, Buland Darwaza. After the visit, continue to drive to Jaipur and we will drop by Abhaneri to visit Chand Baori Step Well, India's largest and deepest well. Constructed with thousands of steps, it was built to conserve water and as a gathering place for the locals. Upon arrival in Jaipur, we will send you to any hotel you booked.
Day 2: Visit Amber Fort; Make a Photo Stop for Jal Mahal; Visit City Palace, Jantar Mantar; Pass by Hawa Maha (No Entrance); Depart to Delhi
Today’s Agra Jaipur tour starts with Amber Fort, one of the principal attractions in Jaipur. Located on a hill in the northern periphery of Jaipur, the Amber Fort was constructed of white, pale-yellow, and pink marble stones. Laid out in the 4 levels, the majestic palace was surrounded by great city walls. Visitors can walk for 15 minutes or ride a jeep to climb up to the fort. There are several palaces with ramparts, a series of gates with exquisite carvings, winding corridors, cobbled paths and artistic courtyards. The most impressive palace is undoubtedly the Sheesh Mahal, which is a mirror palace decorated with a great number of tiny mirrors and jewels, extremely gorgeous when the sun shines through. The whole Amber Fort will bring you the feeling of traveling through the time back to the ancient Mughal Empire and help you witness the royalty and grandeur. Then, we will go back to the Jaipur City. On the way, we will pass by the Jal Mahal, famous Water Palace. It was constructed in the center of a lake, forming a beautiful picture together with the inverted reflection on the water. You will not want to miss the chance to take a photo with this beautiful architecture at a distance.
Next, you will be accompanied to visit the glamorous City Palace situated in the Old City center. Jaipur's royals have stayed there for hundreds of years until now. Although only a part is opened to the public, you can still appreciate the magnificent construction, delicate arches and domes with carvings and murals. What's more, the palace holds a museum collecting imperial items like garments, swords, armors and carpets, a good place to explore India's history. After that, we will move to the Jantar Mantar nearby. It is the largest royal observatory in India, attracting numerous travelers for the world's largest sundial and other astronomy instruments. Besides that, the strange statues and the unique building are interesting enough for you. In the end, we will have a stop for the famed Hawa Mahal, a striking red-painted palace with nearly a thousand windows. The stunning appearance will surely leave you a lasting impression.
